Journal Of Wound, Ostomy & Continence (JWOCN)
Access to the JWOCN
As Member or a Student Associate of NSWOCC, you automatically receive a subscription to the Journal of Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nursing (JWOCN). Once you access it through one of these options below, you will have full access to one of the most valuable resources in your NSWOC journey. The JWOCN is an essential companion for your coursework, clinical practice, and lifelong learning as a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence.
Gaining Access
Important to know before you begin:
-
Your JWOCN subscription is connected to your NSWOCC Student Associate membership.
-
During your registration to become an NSWOC Student Associate at www.membersnswoc.ca, if you accidentally selected “opt out” of the JWOCN or entered information into the “WOCN Registration Number” or “JWOCN Registration Number” fields, your subscription may not have been activated.
-
In that case, you must contact administration@nswoc.ca to pay the $46 fee and have your subscription added.
-
-
You must use the same personal email address linked to your NSWOC Student Associate registration at www.membersnswoc.ca when registering with the JWOCN publisher (Lippincott/Wolters Kluwer). Do not use your @wocinstitute.ca email address for the JWOCN subscription, as it is not linked to your membership.
Option 1 – One-click access through membership area
The easiest way to access the JWOCN is directly through your NSWOCC account.
1) Go to: www.membersnswoc.ca
a. Log in with your NSWOCC member credentials.
b. On the left-hand sidebar, click “Access JWOCN Online.”

2) If you do not see this option:
a. Verify whether you opted out or made an error during registration; if you did, you will need to correct this and pay the $46 subscription fee.
b. Contact administration@nswoc.ca to confirm whether your subscription is active.
Option 2 – Register on the JWOCN Website
To make full use of your subscription (saving articles, setting up alerts, etc.), you can also register directly with the JWOCN publisher.
Step 1: Start your JWOCN Registration
i. Visit the JWOCN Website: https://journals.lww.com/jwocnonline/pages/default.aspx
ii. Click REGISTER (top-right corner).

iii. Complete the form using your personal email address linked to your NSWOCC membership (not your @wocinstitute.ca email).
iv. Check your email inbox for a verification email from customerservice@lww.com with the subject line:
“Important information regarding your JOURNAL OF WOUND, OSTOMY, & CONTINENCE NURSING subscription”
a) This email will include your unique subscriber number (begins with “000” followed by 9 digits).
b) Save this email—it is important for troubleshooting later.
Step 2: Activate Your Subscription
Once you have your subscriber number, you need to activate your access.
i. Click on the link in the verification email from customerservice@lww.com to visit the Activate Subscription Page.
ii. From the Account dropdown, select Activate (or “Register” if you have not yet set up your account).

iii. Enter your 12-digit subscriber number, including leading zeros (e.g., 000123456789), which can be found in the verification email from customerservice@lww.com.
iv. Agree to the license agreement and complete the process.
v. You will receive a confirmation email, and your online subscription should now be fully active.
Step 3: Accessing Articles
Once activated, you can:
-
Log into JWOCN Online anytime with your registered email and password.
-
Browse, search, and download full-text articles.
-
Access both current issues and the archived collection.
Option 3 – Print Subscription
If you selected a print subscription during registration, you will also receive mailed copies 6 times per year. You can always update your mailing preferences by clicking on “Update Registration Information” in the left-hand sidebar of your Membership account at www.membersnswoc.ca.
Note: NSWOCC sends an updated subscriber list to JWOCN six weeks before each new issue is published, and also at the start of each new program cohort. If you registered recently, it may take time for your subscription to appear in the system. Or, if you recently changed your mailing preference from digital (online) to print (mailed) within six weeks before the next issue, it will only take effect starting with the following issue.
